New pop rock group She Formed The Skies are quickly gaining the support and fan base they deserve. With their new song to hit the world this September time, we chat to the band to find out more. SFTS are Craig Kemplen – (Guitar, Vocals), Josh Burt – (Guitar, Vocals), Connor Kells- (Bass) and Jedd Eagleton – (Drums)
Where does the name She Formed The Skies come from? Craig- I actually can’t remember! Connor- There was some song like “He filmed the Clouds” or something Craig- To me it sounds like a bit of a heavier band name, but that gives me more pleasure when people actually check us out and are oh they are actually nothing like this- they are really poppy, they are really energetic.
So, how did you all meet each other?
Jedd- Well I’ve known Josh for 8 years, and when I went to college I saw Connor and recognized him. Craig- And on the second day of college, Jedd used to get to college so early and I was standing there like “Hey Jedd!” and he was like “Oh it’s that Craig guy from my class..”
Josh- The first time I’ve ever heard about Craig, I was asking Jedd how college was and he was just like “There’s this really loud guy that sings half of a song then stops.”
Tell us a little bit about your new song?
Craig- It’s called “Best Friend”.. Not best friends for ever! It’s a bit cheekier than that. It’s very uplifting, pop, Summer, I think everyone’s going to enjoy it. We actually have filmed our music video back on the 10th August for this new song, and we invited some fans to come down to the shoot and party!
So what’s the idea for the music video?
Craig- It’s going to be like a house party video which we are almost pocking fun at- we really wanted to point at the fact that every American band does a house party video…
Jedd- …I went to Florida a bit before the music video shoot and got some of those red cups you see in movies, like 300 of them haha!
Craig- But there’s also like a very strong story line to it too, which we are not going to say anything about!
Josh- It sort of links in with the lyrics of the song too.
What makes you unique from other bands?
I think nobody in this country (UK) is doing what we are doing at the minute. There’s a lot of pop stuff coming like Stakeout, Taking Hayley, Room 94. We try to keep it real, we noticed that there weren’t many bands of our genre here, so we were just like lets give it a crack!
