Latest Release- “We are become death”
Ravenous was formed in Southampton in early 2008 when (bassist) Leon Maidment Millar joined an old school friend (lead guitar/vocals) Dave Game and band mates (drummer) Rich Giles, (rhythm) Dave Foster in performing covers of the Thrash/Groove metal genre with only one original song named Ravenous! After much indecision it was decided that Ravenous would be the most fitting name for the new direction of the band and the craving need to break the fashionable trends in metal and return to its rawer roots with more lyrical structure and 'lyrical' lyrics. Ravenous perform live in and around the south of England with original sets and are always well received. With the exception of the introduction of rhythm player Adam Robbins, Ravenous continues on the same path with more and more original material and an ever-increasing appetite for anthemic and meaningful composition.
We are Ravenous, a four piece Metal band from Southampton, Hampshire, UK. Formed in 2008 by David Game (lead vocals/guitar) and Richard Giles (Drums), and completed by Leon Maidment (Bass) and Adam Robbins (Rhythm guitar).
While trying to avoid genre's altogether, I seem to find myself leaning (nodding) towards suggesting that we may sound 'Thrashy' perhaps?! We only however have one criteria when deciding which songs are in, and which songs are out; Do we ALL feel the song? If yes then its a keeper, if not, its binned.
Who are your Inspirations?
Our main influences would be Metallica, Machine Head and Pantera, probably in that order. When I started playing guitar I pretty much learned every pre 90's Metallica track that I liked, which was, I guess, what really formed the basis for my guitar style. In fact, we pretty much only played Metallica covers when we started out! Luckily though, when the other members came along they showed me the world of music out there that I was missing, but, good or bad, the Metallica influence is undeniable.
Why should people check you out?
Why not? I didn't know how much I liked pizza until I first tried it! Now I'm 24st! No, seriously, there are so many bands out there trying to get somewhere and a lot of them unfortunately (In my opinion) seem to follow the current and trendy styles that have reaped a lucrative reward for many bands, although we would love to earn enough to quit our jobs and do this for a living, we write purely for the pleasure and benevolence of creativity and the enjoyment of live performance. Take it or leave it, love us or loathe us, our music is sincere.
If you want well crafted songs, whiskey soaked riffs and rock n roll show like know other then we are your band
Debut album “We are become death” from the Southampton based Metal band, featuring the progressive track 'Easter Island'. While based around more popular movements of the Metal genre, 'Easter Island' attempts to bring more meaningful and lyrical composition back to the genre.
