The hype around King 810 has been growing for the last couple of months, and rightly so. With the new album, Memoirs of a murderer and the announcement of the band touring America with Korn and Slipknot, the curiosity was bound to catch up with everyone caught in its path. King 810 played at the O2 Islington Academy , at which they showcased their energy and ferocity. We stood behind police yellow tape that covered the front of the stage, that instantly bought these feelings of adrenaline and nervousness. Something that I have never experienced before at a show. The concert opened up with some members of the standing at the side of the stage with baseball bats and the first moments of the first song, Killem All showed the intensity that the band created around the venue, as frontman, David Gunn performed through the tape like a crazed escaped prisoner. By half way through of the second song, the tape was torn and gone, which led me to notice how much this band has stage presence. Highlights of the show were Boogeyman, Best nite of my life, State of nature, Fat around the heart which defined the different styles of what King 810 is. Despite the positives of the show and how captivating each song and member got to make the crowd go crazy, there were also the negatives, such as sound issues that kind of toned down the momentum half way through the show. By the time, Gunn performed Anatomy 1:2 , i noticed the attention span of the audience was left elsewhere because I couldn't hear him as everyone around me was talking loudly. Perhaps it was because of the sort of venue that the band played in, that it could have been downsized to a venue where the intimacy and energy was appreciated more. The positives, however over-weighed the negatives because the band continued to push hard with their performance. The band managed to grab the fans back with the last few songs , Write about us and Fat around the heart which bought mosh pits and sing alongs. The great thing about this band, is that they already have all these fans in the palm of their hands, and there is the certainty that King 810 will grow further. King 810, the hype around this band has been proven at this UK tour.
