Kerrang! Relentless Tour Live @ Manchester Academy
February 20, 2015
Returning once more to Manchester, the Kerrang! Relentless Tour saw music fans of all ages spend their Valentine’s Day in the company of some great talent. Kicking things off were Beartooth who performed an energetic set heavily focussed on material from their debut album ‘Disgusting’ and despite the venue not even being half full by the time they wrapped things up, they received a strong response.
Bury Tomorrow ensured the heavy metal-rock theme of the evening continued for a little while longer, with opening track ‘Man On Fire’ going down a storm and initiating a strong circle pit.
Announced as a last minute addition to the bill, Young Guns had just fifteen minutes to entertain the masses, and they easily rose to the challenge. Having just announced a UK wide tour beginning in March and with a new album due out in June, they seized the opportunity to showcase some of their new material but it was the anthemic ‘Bones’ that went down best of all.
We Are The In Crowd’s Tay Jardine was fired up from the moment she stepped on stage and, pacing around, leaning forward to engage with her crowd, she helped the New Yorkers secure themselves a whole new army of fans thanks to catchy pop tracks such as ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Rumor Mill.’
Headliners Don Broco have been somewhat absent from the music scene in recent months so it might have been expected to see them deliver a set a little shaky in parts. However, tonight, that was not the case and, as they powered their way through their set, highlights coming in the form of ‘Whole Truth’ and ‘You Wanna Know’, there was little doubt that they still had the passion, determination and most importantly, the music to keep them in the eyes and ears of music fans across the country for a little while longer.
