In the last two years there has been a radical change on the catwalks, it seems as though every designer is breaking the rules of garment designing, the shapes we are now seeing on the runway are much different to those we saw even 5 years ago. What makes the collection so different now is the need to break the idea that fashion equals feminine floral. Feminine no longer means the same.

Designers such as Yohji Yamamoto, Ulyana Sergeenko and brands as Comme de Gracons have dedicated their fashion careers to creating this new mind-set. They have slowly altered the definition of fashion. This new and key genre of the 21st century experiments with style, shape, material and print unlike the traditional; it is a mesh of eastern traditional shapes, masculinity and layering therefore can only be describes as Avant-garde fashion.
The definition of Avant-garde is ‘new and experimental ideas and methods in art, music, or literature.’ Instead of limiting this to just art, music and literature designers have expanded this to fashion now.

The woman that has inspired this category is strong, bold and courageous. She does not conform to the rules set by society; she wants more choices, daring choices. A key theme emerging from this leaking all over the catwalk is strength and futurism. One can instantly feel the vibe of futurism , if this the direction that fashion is heading, we are in for an exciting ride.
